eARThHAMPTONS eARThHAMPTONS, is the brainchild of artist Anahi DeCanio, creative director of ArtyZen Studios. She has a very personal connection to the East End and it's natural surroundings and a special place in her heart for Ashawagh Hall. The Earth Day ART & DESIGN Weekend Celebration will include works from: Anahi - Josh Hadar - Dan Welden - Christine D'Addario, Lori Horowitz, Geralyne Lewandowski and Michele Dragonetti. ZCI Woodworks will be exhibiting beautiful benches and table made from gorgeous reclaimed wood. We are also very excited to be exhibiting custom high end pieces by much sought after Naula. One of the pieces on exhibit, is a specially made ottoman called the Time Capsule. Naula and Ascalon created this piece with a core of reclaimed magazines to replace the wood structure that would otherwise be needed to build this type of furniture. The foundation for this idea is that many years from now, when magazines, paper publications, etc. are a thing of the past, this capsule project has recorded a moment in time from our generation for a future generation to one day discover. Activities are planned throughout both days with local purveyors of the best natural products from the East End setting up on the Ashawagh lawn. Meet award winning artists and artisans along with the best of local earth friendly vendors such as Hamptons Handpoured. In addition to outdoor vendors and Earth Day related activities, Toni Germie of Benjamin Moore will be making a continuing education unit presentation on color and sustainability practices, which will be tailored to interior designers but also of interest to the general public. Master printmaker Dan Welden will be making a presentation and teaching eco-friendly techniques for art print making. We have a few more surprises in store! Spring is a wonderful time of year to visit the area. Gardens and fields will be flourishing but the shops and restaurants will be easier to navigate before the Summer crowds arrive. This is a great weekend to feed your creative soul and enjoy the East End. The well known Guild Hall will be holding the opening reception to their annual members show. Some of our artists will actually be participating in that exhibit as well. Their Opening will also take place on Saturday April 23 from 4 to 6 pm, leaving you with plenty of time to stop by before or afterwards! We will be open from 10 AM to 9 PM on Saturday. Our opening starts just as theirs ends - running from 6 to 9! So make it an artsy Earth Day Weekend and come on out! Art Opening Reception on Saturday April 23 from 6 to 9.
