FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Award winning artist Anahi DeCanio, Creative Director of Long Island based ArtyZen Studios participated in an interior design show organized by the Interior Design Society of Long Island.  She debuted new abstract work made especially for the event as a well as the mixed media collage painting "Victorious".  Victorious is from the Pink Hearts series.  Some of these recent paintings were especially created for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Several of the paintings in the series, as well as as many others, are on display as part of fundraising events at Lord & Taylor in Long Island.

The "for the trade only" design show, held at Carlyle on the Green included an exciting array of resources to designers and provided a networking opportunity for those in the design trade in Long Island and NYC.  Various valuable workshops were offered, including some for Continuing Education Units.

The highlight of the day was a fantastic interview with Celebrity guest star Steve Fanuka, The DIY Networks “Million Dollar Contractor” conducted by Designerlebrity creator Barbara Viteri. It was a packed house and they rocked it!  Barbara Viteri is a breath of fresh air and a tornado of positive energy all at once!  It was a packed house and they rocked it!  The stage created with furniture provided by Mitchell Gold and Bob Williams and styled by Christine Conte Designs was a show stopper! The interview was not only informative, but lots of fun and peppered with great personal and behind the scene stories.  The audience, which included several high profile figures in the interior design industry,  was captivated for well over an hour and came out smiling.  Both Barbara and Steve were very gracious and made themselves available for photos after the interview was concluded.

LI Pulse Magazine, The Typical Female Magazine, FIOS TV and House Magazine and members of Newsday and other media covered the event.  The Typical Female created a great video of the event.  Click HERE to see it!  I was interviewed in reference to my paintings "Victorious" - part of the Pink Heart Series which will be on display at Lord and Taylor to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Hispanic Heritage Month.

The hard work of the IDS Long Island committee who organized the event was evident throughout.  Every detail was tended to. The show also included a delicious lunch and desserts.  One lucky attendee will know soon if they won a Hansgrohe Bathroom suite valued at $15K.

This is the second year Anahi DeCanio participated in this Long Island Design event.  She is a Sterling Partner of the Interior Design Society.  Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums nationally and internationally and is collected worldwide.  Her photography and paintings have also appeared in several motion pictures and TV shows.  Anahi is involved in several charities, including serving as a board member of the Art League of Long Island, the Advisory Board of Long Island Arts Alliance and the Long Island Arts Alliance Hispanic Heritage Committee.
