“Every brushstroke, color, element, or scratch as symbols of the marks left behind by life events and the passage of time.” Anahi DeCanio

Anahi DeCanio is a multidisciplinary artist using mixed media, photography, collage as a form of expression. Her influences are as varied as the art she creates. Born in Uruguay, DeCanio came to New York as a child and felt immediately at home. Her pieces are inspired by nature as well as urban settings. Her complex abstract landscapes encompass layer upon layer, each awaiting exploration. As viewers dive deeper into the works, subtle details that might have been missed upon initial glance are unveiled.  Graffiti like elements and text, in combination with Zen and gilding with occasional collage elements produce a vibrant energy creating unexpected arresting works.

DeCanio’s work has been featured in various publications, locally and abroad, including Time Magazine, Robb Report, Boca Raton News, Telemundo, The Palm Beach Post, Gotham, and the NY Times.  Her artwork has appeared in numerous major motion pictures and TV shows. Her artwork has received numerous awards, including several First-Place honors for both her art and product design.  Anahi was selected as White House Fellows Featured Artist in 2016 and selected by the Long Island Arts Alliance as Hispanic Artist of the Year during the same time.

Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in several well-respected venues which include: Boca Raton Museum of Art, Brown University, Pen and Brush in NYC, Palm Beach Armory, Art Basel Miami, Coral Springs Museum, Palm Beach County Art in Public Places exhibition, Milan Film Festival, the National Steinbeck Center, Holiday House NYC, the Architectural Digest Design Show collaborating with Naula, National Art League, Guild Hall in East Hampton and a special solo exhibition at the Consulate General of Uruguay in NYC. Ms. DeCanio has been part of exhibitions and special events that have included artists Cindy Sherman, Eric Fischl, April Gornik, Athos Zacharias, Hans van de Bovenkamp, the Guerrilla Girls, Pablo Atchugarry and Ignacio Iturria, among others.

DeCanio is the founder and curator of eARThHAMPTONS. Active in several art and charitable organizations, she also combines her passion for art design with her background in finance as a licensed real estate salesperson with Douglas Elliman.
